Change the world

04/04/2017

In the build up to the official launch of our new name – Nelson Mandela University - at a date still to be decided later this year, you are reminded of the opportunities available to have your say around the University’s new name and what it can mean for us.

You can share anonymously via the online platform SOAPBOX, http://intranet.nmmu.ac.za/soapbox and see what others have had to say

or

be part of a New Name Conversation – small group sessions where the meaning of the name will be explored, along with ideas for making the legacy of Nelson Mandela come to life. If you would like to participate, please email elma.dekoker@nmmu.ac.za who will forward time and venue options for the two-hour sessions. This process will run till the end of June.

Please also be aware that the new name – Nelson Mandela University – should only officially be used from the launch date.  However, if, in the interim, you are referring to the new name verbally or in written form, you are encouraged to use the full name and not the acronym. Use of the acronym downplays the value of being the only university in the world to carry the name of one of the world’s greatest icons, Nelson Mandela.
